i stopped by for dinner at the recommendation of my friend (who is a total foodie), and wow! they serve excellent quality fish and generous portion sizes for this price point. i had the sashimi dinner and each piece was sliced thick and very flavorful. the staff are also extremely kind and attentive. plus, i heard them speaking japanese - love that for authenticity haha. i'm so glad this cute little gem exists! will definitely be back again and again.

The sushi quality is incredible - just look at the picture. Got my mouth drooling just looking at it. I got the deluxe platter with a side of sushi rice and I was stuffed. Unlike what Google says, this place is not permanently closed. We walked in on a Sunday evening and got seats at the bar. Great neighborhood spot in Soho!

This place used to be over an hour wait bc the inside seating had like 2 tables. But now after COVID they were able to extend to outdoor sitting. I think they triple the seating area. The wait is not too long. Less than an half hour. I don't eat raw fish, however my foodie friend tells me it's the best place for sushi in NY. That's why we used to wait over an hour before. It's Super fresh, high quality n big PCs. I had my usual Shrimp tempura roll. It was good, shrimp tempura fried to perfection. The sake selection is good. I usually ask the servers for recommendation. If you live sushi you must try this place. Service is attentive n friendly n fast. Bc they want you out

Pros - Affordable price for good quality sushi - Quality of fish is pretty good and fresh overall - You will be able to get your food pretty quickly as soon as you order Cons - Portion is small for sushi lunch - Cannot make a reservation

Always hits the spot when I'm doing takeout or when I'm dining in! Quality stays the same and the price is hard to beat! My usual is the sushi deluxe ($35) which comes with 10 pieces of sushi pieces and half a roll of yellow tail, half a roll of tuna and a soup or salad. They're cash only or AMEX. The restaurant separates tables, checks temp, has hand sanitizer on the table, and only allows one party at the bar. They also have outdoor dining available!

I love Tomoe. It's easily the best sushi you can get for the money. I mean, for $35, you get a massive platter of sushi that rivals NYCs best sushi places in terms of quality. Besides Tomoe, the last sushi place i visited was Nakazawa, and honestly in a blind taste test I don't know if I've notice a major difference in quality between the fish. With the sushi deluxe, they give you a nice variety of fish. This isn't exhaustive, but with ours this weekend we got some salmon, tuna, shrimp, scallop, tobiko, ikura, and tamago. We also got a tuna roll and yellowtail/scallion roll each. It's a lot of food and again, cannot beat the quality for $35. They gave us plenty of wasabi, soy sauce, and ginger with our meal as well. Four stars instead of five because while the sushi might rival the best places in New York, the atmosphere is a dump and the wait can be long. It's also just a pain in the butt to order. Maybe I'm spoiled with seamless, Postmates, etc, but it's just frustrating having to deal with the old school ordering. Cash and Amex only, no online ordering, they pick up the phone maybe half the time you try calling, no website...You'd think they could make some minor improvements somewhere. Anyway, will order again. Exceptional sushi.

Great sushi! My friend and I came here on a Saturday around 1pm and were seated immediately without a reservation. Food: We both got the lunch special sushi set with a side of miso soup or salad. It's extremely hard finding a good sushi place with fresh fish and good sushi rice, but Tomoe did both!!! Service: Fast service with attentive waiters Atmosphere: Liked the decorations of the place, made me feel like I was in japan. Very cosy.

Waited for about 10 mins at around 6:30 PM on a weeknight, and by the time we left the line was stretching down the block, so plan accordingly. Vegetable tempura was a bit soggy but the Sushi-sashimi combination was excellent. We also supplemented a piece of fatty tuna sashimi, which was the best thing we ate. I found the prices to be very reasonable - feel like it's more of a $$ spot than $$$.
